••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••

Amos 1:6-7 ESV . . .Thus says the LORD  (יהוה): "For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they carried into exile a whole people to deliver them up to Edom. (7) So I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour her strongholds.

Amos 1:6-7 LITV . . .So says Jehovah  (יהוה): For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn back from it, for they deported as exiles to deliver up a complete population to Edom. (7) But I will send a fire against the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour its palaces.

Amos 1:6-7 GW . . .This is what the LORD  (יהוה) says: Because Gaza has committed three crimes, and now a fourth crime, I will not change my plans. The Philistines have taken all the people captive in order to hand them over to the Edomites. (7) I will send a fire on the walls of Gaza and burn down its palaces.

Amos 1:6-7 BBE . . .These are the words of the Lord  (יהוה): For three crimes of Gaza, and for four, I will not let its fate be changed; because they took all the people away prisoners, to give them up to Edom. (7) And I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, burning up its great houses:

Amos 1:6-7 CEV . . .The LORD  (יהוה) said: I will punish Philistia for countless crimes, and I won't change my mind. They dragged off my people from town after town to sell them as slaves to the Edomites. (7) That's why I will burn down the walls and fortresses of the city of Gaza.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
