Isaiah 2:1-5 GNB . . .Here is the message which God gave to Isaiah son of Amoz about Judah and Jerusalem: (2) In days to come the mountain where the Temple stands will be the highest one of all, towering above all the hills. Many nations will come streaming to it, (3) and their people will say, "Let us go up the hill of the LORD (יהוה), to the Temple of Israel's God. He will teach us what he wants us to do; we will walk in the paths he has chosen. For the LORD (יהוה)'s teaching comes from Jerusalem; from Zion he speaks to his people." (4) He will settle disputes among great nations. They will hammer their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives. Nations will never again go to war, never prepare for battle again. (5) Now, descendants of Jacob, (Gal 3:19-29) let us walk in the light which the LORD (יהוה) gives us!
Isaiah 2:1-5 CEV . . .This is the message that I was given about Judah and Jerusalem: (2) In the future, the mountain with the LORD's (יהוה's) temple will be the highest of all. It will reach above the hills; every nation will rush to it. (3) Many people will come and say, "Let's go to the mountain of the LORD (יהוה) God of Jacob and worship in his temple." The LORD (יהוה) will teach us his Law from Jerusalem, and we will obey him. (4) He will settle arguments between nations. They will pound their swords and their spears into rakes and shovels; they will never make war or attack one another. (5) People of Israel, (Gal 3:19-29) let's live by the light of the LORD (יהוה).
Isaiah 2:1-5 LITV . . .The Word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: (2) And it shall be in the last days, the mountain of the house of Jehovah (יהוה) shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it. (3) And many people shall go and say, Come and let us go up to the mount of Jehovah (יהוה), to the house of the God of Jacob. And He will teach from His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For out of Zion the Law will go forth, and the Word of Jehovah (יהוה) from Jerusalem. (4) And He shall judge among the nations and shall rebuke many people. And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more. (5) Oh house of Jacob, (Gal 3:19-29) come and let us walk in the light of Jehovah (יהוה).
Isaiah 2:1-5 ESV . . .The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
