Luke 1:39-56 GNB Soon afterward Mary got ready and hurried off to a town in the hill country of Judea. (40) She went into Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth. (41) When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby moved within her. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (42) and said in a loud voice, "You are the most blessed of all women, and blessed is the child you will bear! (43) Why should this great thing happen to me, that my Lord's mother comes to visit me? (44) For as soon as I heard your greeting, the baby within me jumped with gladness. (45) How happy you are to believe that the Lord's message to you will come true!" (46) Mary said, "My heart praises the Lord; (47) my soul is glad because of God  ( יהוה ) my Savior, (48) for he has remembered me, his lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy, (49) because of the great things the Mighty God has done for me. His name is holy; (50) from one generation to another he shows mercy to those who honor him. (51) He has stretched out his mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. (52) He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly. (53) He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with empty hands. (54) He has kept the promise he made to our ancestors, and has come to the help of his servant Israel. (55) He has remembered to show mercy to Abraham and to all his descendants forever!" (56) Mary stayed about three months with Elizabeth and then went back home.

(42) She said in a loud voice, "You are the most blessed of all women, and blessed is the child that you will have. (43) I feel blessed that the mother of my Lord is visiting me. (44) As soon as I heard your greeting, I felt the baby jump for joy. (45) You are blessed for believing that the Lord would keep his promise to you." (46) Mary said, "My soul praises the Lord's greatness! (47) My spirit finds its joy in God  ( יהוה ), my Savior, (48) because he has looked favorably on me, his humble servant. "From now on, all people will call me blessed (49) because the Almighty has done great things to me. His name is holy. (50) For those who fear him, his mercy lasts throughout every generation. (51) "He displayed his mighty power. He scattered those who think too highly of themselves. (52) He pulled strong rulers from their thrones. He honored humble people. (53) He fed hungry people with good food. He sent rich people away with nothing. (54) "He remembered to help his servant Israel forever. (55) This is the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and his descendants." (56) Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then went back home.

Luke 1:39-56 ESV In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, (40) and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. (41) And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, (42) and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! (43) And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? (44) For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. (45) And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord." (46) And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, (47) and my spirit rejoices in God  ( יהוה ) my Savior, (48) for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; (49) for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. (50) And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. (51) He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; (52) he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; (53) he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. (54) He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, (55) as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever." (56) And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
