••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like
to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••
Numbers 20:1-13 ESV . . .And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And Miriam died there and was buried there. (2) Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. (3) And the people quarreled with Moses and said, "Would that we had perished when our brothers perished before the LORD (יהוה)! (4) Why have you brought the assembly of the LORD (יהוה) into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle? (5) And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink." (6) Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. And the glory of the LORD (יהוה) appeared to them, (7) and the LORD (יהוה) spoke to Moses, saying, (8) "Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle." (9) And Moses took the staff from before the LORD (יהוה), as he commanded him. (10) Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?" (11) And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock. (12) And the LORD (יהוה) said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them." (13) These are the waters of Meribah, where the people of Israel quarreled with the LORD (יהוה), and through them he showed himself holy.
Numbers 20:6-13 LITV . . .And Moses and Aaron went in from the eyes of the assembly, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and fell on their faces. And the glory of יהוה appeared to them. (7) And יהוה spoke to Moses, saying, (8) Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you and your brother Aaron. And speak to the rock before their eyes. And it shall give forth its water; and you shall bring water out of the rock to them; so you shall water the congregation and their animals. (9) And Moses took the rod from before יהוה, as He commanded him. (10) And Moses and Aaron assembled the congregation before the rock. And he said to them, Hear now, you rebels, shall we bring forth water to you out of this rock? (11) And Moses lifted up his hand and smote the rock with his rod twice; and much water came out; and the congregation and their animals drank. (12) And יהוה said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe in Me, to sanctify Me before the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring in this congregation to the land which I have given to them. (13) These are the Waters of Strife, because the sons of Israel contended with יהוה, and He was sanctified upon them.
Numbers 20:1-13 GNB . . .In the first month the whole community of Israel came to the wilderness of Zin and camped at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried. (2) There was no water where they camped, so the people gathered around Moses and Aaron (3) and complained: "It would have been better if we had died in front of the LORD (יהוה)'s Tent along with the other Israelites. (4) Why have you brought us out into this wilderness? Just so that we can die here with our animals? (5) Why did you bring us out of Egypt into this miserable place where nothing will grow? There's no grain, no figs, no grapes, no pomegranates. There is not even any water to drink!" (6) Moses and Aaron moved away from the people and stood at the entrance of the Tent. They bowed down with their faces to the ground, and the dazzling light of the LORD (יהוה)'s presence appeared to them. (7) The LORD (יהוה) said to Moses, (8) "Take the stick that is in front of the Covenant Box, and then you and Aaron assemble the whole community. There in front of them all speak to that rock over there, and water will gush out of it. In this way you will bring water out of the rock for the people, for them and their animals to drink." (9) Moses went and got the stick, as the LORD (יהוה) had commanded. (10) He and Aaron assembled the whole community in front of the rock, and Moses said, "Listen, you rebels! Do we have to get water out of this rock for you?" (11) Then Moses raised the stick and struck the rock twice with it, and a great stream of water gushed out, and all the people and animals drank. (12) But the LORD (יהוה) reprimanded Moses and Aaron. He said, "Because you did not have enough faith to acknowledge my holy power before the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land that I promised to give them." (13) This happened at Meribah, where the people of Israel complained against the LORD (יהוה) and where he showed them that he is holy.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals. The Translations we quote are:
