Psalms 2:1-12 GW . . .Why do the nations gather together? Why do their people devise useless plots? (2) Kings take their stands. Rulers make plans together against the LORD (יהוה) and against his Messiah by saying, (3) "Let's break apart their chains and shake off their ropes." (4) The one enthroned in heaven laughs. The LORD (יהוה) makes fun of them. (5) Then he speaks to them in his anger. In his burning anger he terrifies them by saying, (6) "I have installed my own king on Zion, my holy mountain." (7) I will announce the LORD's (יהוה's) decree. He said to me: "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. (8) Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the ends of the earth as your own possession. (9) You will break them with an iron scepter. You will smash them to pieces like pottery." (10) Now, you kings, act wisely. Be warned, you rulers of the earth! (11) Serve the LORD (יהוה) with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (12) Kiss the Son, or he will become angry and you will die on your way because his anger will burst into flames. Blessed is everyone who takes refuge in him.
Psalms 2:1-12 ESV . . .Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? (2) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD (יהוה) and against his Anointed, saying, (3) "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us." (4) He who sits in the heavens laughs; the LORD (יהוה) holds them in derision. (5) Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, (6) "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill." (7) I will tell of the decree: The LORD (יהוה) said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you. (8) Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. (9) You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." (10) Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. (11) Serve the LORD (יהוה) with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (12) Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Psalms 2:1-12 CEV . . .Why do the nations plot, and why do their people make useless plans? (2) The kings of this earth have all joined together to turn against the LORD (יהוה) and his chosen one. (3) They say, "Let's cut the ropes and set ourselves free!" (4) In heaven the LORD (יהוה) laughs as he sits on his throne, making fun of the nations. (5) The LORD (יהוה) becomes furious and threatens them. His anger terrifies them as he says, (6) "I've put my king on Zion, my sacred hill." (7) I will tell the promise that the LORD (יהוה) made to me: "You are my son, because today I have become your father. (8) Ask me for the nations, and every nation on earth will belong to you. (9) You will smash them with an iron rod and shatter them like dishes of clay." (10) Be smart, all you rulers, and pay close attention. (11) Serve and honor the LORD (יהוה); be glad and tremble. (12) Show respect to his son because if you don't, the LORD (יהוה) might become furious and suddenly destroy you. But he blesses and protects everyone who runs to him.
Psalms 2:1-12 GNB . . .Why do the nations plan rebellion? Why do people make their useless plots? (2) Their kings revolt, their rulers plot together against the LORD (יהוה) and against the king he chose. (3) "Let us free ourselves from their rule," they say; "let us throw off their control." (4) From his throne in heaven the LORD (יהוה) laughs and mocks their feeble plans. (5) Then he warns them in anger and terrifies them with his fury. (6) "On Zion, my sacred hill," he says, "I have installed my king." (7) "I will announce," says the king, "what the LORD (יהוה) has declared. He said to me: 'You are my son; today I have become your father. (8) Ask, and I will give you all the nations; the whole earth will be yours. (9) You will break them with an iron rod; you will shatter them in pieces like a clay pot.' " (10) Now listen to this warning, you kings; learn this lesson, you rulers of the world: (11) Serve the LORD (יהוה) with fear; tremble (12) and bow down to him; or else his anger will be quickly aroused, and you will suddenly die. Happy are all who go to him for protection.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
