Revelation 20:10 causes much contention and even hatred among religious people. Some Religionists believe this verse defines hell as the place of eternal torment for wicked people. Others know
יהוה is good, and so, believe He would never torment humans forever. Their logic is death, which was the sentence for disobedience, (
Gen 2:17;
Rom 6:23) has acquitted the wicked of their sins, (
Rom 6:7) and the dead are conscience of nothing at all. (
Ecc 9:5-6) I believe what the Bible says. I don't really know which belief is correct. I tend to lean toward agreeing with the second assertion, but, I foremost believe what the Bible says. It specifically says those gathered to Armageddon are destroyed, except Satan and the wild beast and the false prophet, who it says will suffer forever in the lake of fire. I'm not sure who the wild beast and false prophet are. As for Satan, he wasn't a mere human like Eve and he wasn't deceived like she was. He had no one to lead him toward badness. And, he may have had eternal life at his creation. The humans didn't have eternal life. Their life depended on their connection to God's Spirit through obedience. None of them, of course, had life within themselves like Jesus was granted. (
John 5:26-27) If Satan has eternal life, maybe he will be punished forever... Thankfully for me, that is God's decision and I will wait to see, and be most pleased, with what ever that truth is... Religionists who believe either Hell Fires do exist, and those who believe they do not, will all agree I am damned. Not fully understanding what God hasn't yet explained in detail causes no problems for the true followers of Jesus Christ.
