Romans 3:1-6 ESV . . .Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? (2) Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. (3) What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? (4) By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, "That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged." (5) But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, (Rom 3:26 of 23-26) what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) (6) By no means! For then how could God judge the world?
Romans 3:1-6 CEV . . .What good is it to be a Jew? What good is it to be circumcised? (2) It is good in a lot of ways! First of all, God's messages were spoken to the Jews. (3) It is true that some of them did not believe the message. But does this mean that God cannot be trusted, just because they did not have faith? (4) No, indeed! God tells the truth, even if everyone else is a liar. The Scriptures say about God, "Your words will be proven true, and in court you will win your case." (5) If our evil deeds show how right God is, (Rom 3:26 of 23-26) then what can we say? Is it wrong for God to become angry and punish us? What a foolish thing to ask. (6) But the answer is, "No." Otherwise, how could God judge the world?

In the first place, God trusted his message to the Jews. (3) But what if some of them were not faithful? Does this mean that God will not be faithful? (4) Certainly not! God must be true, even though all human beings are liars. As the scripture says, "You must be shown to be right when you speak; you must win your case when you are being tried." (5) But what if our doing wrong serves to show up more clearly God's doing right? (Rom 3:26 of 23-26) Can we say that God does wrong when he punishes us? (This would be the natural question to ask.) (6) By no means! If God is not just, how can he judge the world?

First of all, because they were entrusted with the sacred pronouncements of God. 3 What, then, [is the case]? If some did not express faith, will their lack of faith perhaps make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Never may that happen! But let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, even as it is written: “That you might be proved righteous in your words and might win when you are being judged.” 5 However, if our unrighteousness brings God’s righteousness to the fore, (Rom 3:26 of 23-26) what shall we say? God is not unjust when he vents his wrath, is he? (I am speaking as a man does.) 6 Never may that happen! How, otherwise, will God judge the world?
