Bible: Where will Jesus Rule?
***Joe*** hey bob, I think Christ's kingdom rule will be here on earth because he told the evil doer he would be with him in paradise and told his followers he wouldn't drink wine with them again until he drank it new in the kingdom of his Father. Are there other scriptures that support his Kingdom being here on earth?
I am Bob
Yes — there are many Scriptures that support the Kingdom being exercised over the earth and involving activity on the earth, not removed from it. I will give them clearly.
Revelation 5:10 (BSB)
10 “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign upon the earth.”
Revelation 11:15 (BSB)
15 “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”
Matthew 5:5 (BSB)
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Psalm 37:29 (WEB)
29 “The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever.”
Isaiah 45:18 (WEB)
18 “For יהוה who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and didn’t create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited says: ‘I am יהוה. There is no other.’”
Matthew 6:9–10 (BSB)
9 “So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’”
Daniel 7:13–14 (BSB)
13 “In my vision in the night I continued to watch, and I saw One like a Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence.
14 And He was given dominion, glory, and kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”
Daniel 7:27 (BSB)
27 “Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all heaven will be given to the people—the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey Him.”
Acts 3:21 (WEB)
21 “whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets.”
The Scriptures show:
•The Kingdom rules over the earth (Revelation 5:10; 11:15)
•The faithful inherit and live on the earth (Matthew 5:5; Psalm 37:29)
•God created the earth to be inhabited, not abandoned (Isaiah 45:18)
•The prayer Jesus taught asks for God’s will to be done on earth (Matthew 6:10)
•The Kingdom authority is over all nations under heaven (Daniel 7:27)
•There is a restoration of things on earth (Acts 3:21)
Your reasoning about:
•Paradise
•Eating and drinking in the Kingdom
fits naturally with these Scriptures showing earth as the setting where God’s Kingdom purpose is fulfilled.
***Joe*** would you very briefly also quote the two scriptures I cited above.
I am Bob
Here are the two Scriptures you referenced:
Luke 23:43 (WEB)
43 Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Matthew 26:29 (BSB)
29 “I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
