Joe is a man disfellowshipped by JW's in early 2009. The "crime" Joe committed was refusing to join with the sect in teaching all the literature produced by JW's is spiritual food, thus making it equal with the Bible and above question. That was a shocking statement Joe had never heard in thirty years of membership. [It made clear they were not Christian Bible Students as Joe had believed, but a sect of Watchtower slaves.] They published a magazine publicly and openly stating their own writings are "spiritual food" [for their first time ever] during the lengthy process of Joe's disfellowshipping. [Watch the video of the sect's judgment against Joe. (Acts 26:24-26) In point of fact, JW's actually "try" very hard to keep such actions secret. In their mind, then, Joe committed another serious offense by recording and publishing this video showing who they really are.] "Joining the sect as a Bible student, and remaining a Bible Student during all my membership, I was understandably shocked and surprised by their action against me." Some four years after Joe was disfellowshipped, Edgar knocked on his door in July of 2013. Edgar was working from "house to house" trying to recruit new members. [Edgar believes and is taught, of course, he was working to teach people the Bible. After reading this, I am sure you will understand why I say he was "recruiting members" rather than teaching the Bible as God's Word.] So, then, we now repeat the account Edgar shared with Joe, as he tried to "help" Joe at Joe's own front door: Edgar confided in his youth he had a disagreement with another man about a scriptural matter. Let's call this man Sam. [Their discussion and disagreement had to do with understanding who the "superior authorities" represent in the book of Romans. The point of their dispute is irrelevant to our consideration. The point are considering is who or what we can depend on as our source of truth (of spiritual food).] Edgar stated he had believed, from his own personal study of the scriptures, Sam had the correct Bible understanding of what they were discussing. Because, however, JW's literature said something different, Edgar disregarded his own Bible trained conscience and told Sam he was wrong; even though Edgar actually believed Sam's understanding was scripturally correct. Thus Edgar, by his own description of events, supported JW's literature above the Bible. Now this is what is so sad: Edgar's telling Joe about his action shows Edgar remains proud that he deliberately lied to Sam! (Rev 21:8) Edgar's desire, you see, is to instill his own same "organizational pride" in Joe. (Matthew 15:1-9 ; Luke 3:7-9) How very sad!
We do realize considering the truth about JW's will appear a questionable task to most: Why put forth the effort? This website (justbibletruth.com) exists to consider and learn what the Bible teaches, and as an aid in sharing Bible knowledge with others. So, we do not wish to waste a lot of time talking about JW's or any of the other religious sects. That said: There is sound reason to consider this group because many others are just like them in the danger they pose! If you or someone you care about is considering membership in this or any sect, it is certainly better to know the truth they hide about themselves before you join. Exerting some effort to learn about them before, is not near the task you will face if you are a dedicated Bible student (and a sincere Christian - Acts 11:26) who becomes trapped into membership by their pretext of asserting they are "Bible students." That often happens because all sincere Bible students will at first be deceitfully welcomed to membership, and then later, disfellowshipped from their group for continuing to put the Bible first and renounce anything besides the Bible is the Word of God. Years later, when the sect publicly announces you are an enemy of God and does their best to separate you from your friends and even your own family, now that's a task. Even if you are not considering membership, understanding their methods can help you recognize similar deceptive practices in other false Christian groups. When any group of men raise themselves up as the "chosen ones" in the earth, (Mat 24:4-5; Mat 24:23-25) and seat themselves as judges (Mat 23:1-3) of who is wicked and good, the results are always disastrous. (Ecc 8:9) The sad truth is, like Edgar's sect, most all religious groups are just a gathering of Doegs. They are all arrogant and judgmental, asserting love while spreading sectarianism and dogmatic hatred. JW's are just better than most at hiding it. Understanding how JW's (and other Religionists) deceive people will help you understand a warning Jesus gave. He warned we need to recognize and avoid the "Man Of Lawlessness" or "Man Of Sin." (2 Thes 2:1-5) It will also help you recognize and identify real and true Christians. It helps you understand how the group Jesus brought to birth is wholly different from anything men strive to do, no matter how well meaning they might be. (Mat 7:21-23 ; Mat 15:3-9) There is a measure of faith required to really and truly believe there is a Creator who is good. (Heb 11:6) Some faith is also required to believe the Bible is God's form of communication with us. (John 17:17) [That is not too hard: A sincere examination of the Bible pretty much guarantees faith in it. The sum of it is nearly beyond the grasp of human understanding; let alone imagining it could have been created (dreamt up) by humans.] Once you do have faith in God, and then faith in the Bible, however, little additional faith is required. The Bible clearly teaches everything else we need to know. Every "religious group" (being very different from Christians) share one common failing: At some point in your association with them, they will judge you wicked unless you place blind faith in some organizational dogma they can not support scripturally. Wake up now and hear! That simple act of believing in and/or supporting anything beyond the Bible as God's Word [spiritual food] distinguishes them as being religious rather than Christian. Christians follow Christ, no exceptions!
Continuing, then, with another very important point in Edgar's account to illustrate what he believes is
