Revelation 14:6-8 CEV . . .I saw another angel. This one was flying across the sky and had the eternal good news to announce to the people of every race, tribe, language, and nation on earth. (7) The angel shouted, "Worship and honor God! The time has come for him to judge everyone. Kneel down before the one who created heaven and earth, the oceans, and every stream." (8) A second angel followed and said, "The great city of Babylon has fallen! This is the city that made all nations drunk and immoral. Now God is angry, and Babylon has fallen."

Nimrod founded ancient Babylon around 2800-3000 BCE and it became man's first political empire. For over 2000 years the City was a commercial trade center of the world. Situated astride the great Euphrates River, with walls surrounding the huge City on both sides of the river, and with river gates in the inner walls along it's banks running through the great city. On Oct 5, 539 BCE, just as prophets Jeremiah and imprisoned Daniel prophesied, (Dan 5:5-28) Babylon had a great drunken feast with the river gates left open. Cyrus the Great's army engineers diverted the River upstream and his troops entered the city by the riverbed. They went quickly through the city killing all who opposed. In that one night, they captured the great City and it's palace and put Babylonian King Belshazzar to death. Belshazzar had taken the Jews captive and Cyrus was used by God to set them free, (2 Chron 36:22-23) and to return them to their homeland. (Isa 45:1-2; Jer 51:30-32) Babylon had also become a city of much false worship. Any kind of vile God any wicked person might want to worship could be found in her. (Jer 50:38) In referring to God's justice being revealed in our end times, (Zep 1:14-2:3) it becomes evident why God would refer to today's world empire of false religion, intermixed with the world's commerce, as Babylon the Great.

Revelation 14:6-8 GNB . . .Then I saw another angel flying high in the air, with an eternal message of Good News to announce to the peoples of the earth, to every race, tribe, language, and nation. (7) He said in a loud voice, "Honor God and praise his greatness! For the time has come for him to judge all people. Worship him who made heaven, earth, sea, and the springs of water!" (8) A second angel followed the first one, saying, "She has fallen! Great Babylon has fallen! She made all peoples drink her wine---the strong wine of her immoral lust!"

Revelation 14:6-8 BBE . . .And I saw another angel in flight between heaven and earth, having eternal good news to give to those who are on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and language and people, (7) Saying with a loud voice, Have fear of God and give him glory; because the hour of his judging is come; and give worship to him who made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of water. (8) And a second angel came after, saying, Destruction has come to Babylon the great, which gave to all the nations the wine of the wrath of her evil ways.

Revelation 14:6-8 ESV . . .Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. (8) Another angel, a second, followed, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality."

Revelation 14:6-8 ALT . . .And I saw an angel flying in midair, having the eternal Gospel to proclaim to the ones sitting [fig., dwelling] on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people, (7) saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, because the hour of His judgment came, and prostrate yourselves in worship before the One having made heaven and the earth and the sea and springs of waters." (8) And another, a second angel, followed, saying, "{Fallen}, fallen [is] Babylon, the great city! From the wine of the rage of her sexual sin she has given to all nations to have drunk."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
